Patient Safety First

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is an extremely complex environment with multidisciplinary, multi-specialty team members providing care to critically ill patients with complex diseases. These renders critical care a specialty at high risk of medical errors. Healthcare professional should seek to deliver safe and high quality care to every patient and every day.

User-Centered Design for Program Development

CERTAIN is a standardized approach to the evaluation and treatment of acutely ill patients.

The contents and design were informed by the survey of clinicians from diverse international settings.

Decision Aids for Admission, Rounding and Patient-centered Care

CERTAIN includes real-time electronic decision aids that offer to the practicing clinicians and their team a systematic approach to the initial assessment, evidence-based diagnosis and management, patient-centered multi-disciplinary rounding, and ongoing care of the critically ill.

Design for Patient Safety

Based on the 10 years of experience in design, development and implementation of innovative solutions to transform ICU practices in hospitals around the world, the CERTAIN Program is focused on standardized approach to manage acutely ill and injured patients.

CERTAIN has been shown to improve the performance of critical care providers during simulated emergency cases. A large-scale international clinical trial demonstrated its impact on the increased adoption of best care ICU practices and improvement in selected ICU quality of care indicators and patient outcomes.
